Today, Monday, begins the celebration of eid al-fitr.

The holiday is celebrated for three days and Monday is the first day of the celebration.

The Nasic family celebrates with friends from the Bosnian Islamic congregation in Jönköping.

When SVT meets them, they are just about to set the table for coffee.

- There are some traditional dishes that we eat at eid al-fitr.

Above all, sweets and pastries are almost a must on the festive table.

For example, baklava, says Salmir Nasic.

Regular celebration again

During the pandemic, Salmir Nasic celebrated the holiday in a different way.

He says that he and his family have adapted the celebration over the past two years to the restrictions.

This year they are celebrating as they used to do before the pandemic broke out in Sweden.

He says that it is nice to meet as usual in the parish hall.
