He said this after a meeting of EU ministers in charge of energy issues.

His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“The Czech Republic intends to continue paying for gas in euros, especially since we buy most of it on Western European exchanges,” Sikela said.

According to him, in the Czech Republic, only one company buys gas directly from Russia.

He clarified that we are talking about the company ČEZ.

Sikela added that this company "pays and will continue to pay in euros."

He also said that Prague would support the proposal to stop European countries from buying oil from Russia by the end of this year, if the EU implements plans for joint purchases of energy raw materials and has certain reserves.

Earlier, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala also said that Prague does not intend to pay for Russian gas in rubles.
