The Australian carrier has just signed an order for a hundred planes, intended to replace its entire fleet providing domestic flights over the next ten years.

But Qantas will also acquire twelve Airbus A350-1000s, which from 2025 will provide the longest flights in the world, a direct link between Sydney and London, and Sydney and New York, a flight of almost 20 time.

Bright day for Airbus, which signed a contract this morning in Sydney for the acquisition of 146 planes by Qantas.

Added to the billions of euros that this contract will bring in is the prestige of supplying the aircraft which will provide the longest flight in the world from 2025: 20 hours non-stop from Sydney to London and New York.

An ultra long-haul flight that requires some adaptations.

First-class passengers will thus have the luxury of sleeping in a real bed.

But as Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas, recalled, those who travel in economy class will not be forgotten: "

There will be a wellness area on the plane, a dedicated area where people can exercise and hydrate.

This is an area that we believe is very important for passengers taking these very long haul flights.

 »

For this, it was necessary to remove seats, there will only be 238, a hundred less than what is usually found on this type of flight.

A luxury which of course will cost a little more than a classic flight with a stopover.

There will be a small additional cost for this direct flight.

But the prices in economy class will remain very close to our current prices,

 ”promises the boss.

Since 2018, Qantas has been operating a 17-hour direct flight between Perth and London.

A connection which is the most profitable of the network for the Australian company.
