A 32-year-old man was taken into custody at the Nîmes police station late Sunday afternoon after trying to strangle a firefighter.

The man, intoxicated on the public highway, first rebelled against the municipal police officers whom he would have copiously insulted.

Taken care of by the firefighters when he said he was suffering, he would then have been violent during his transfer to the emergency room of the CHU of Nîmes.

He allegedly knocked down the firefighter accompanying him in the ambulance and tried to strangle him.

The Sdis will file a complaint

After a stint in the emergency room, he was quickly taken to the police station in a drunk tank.

before being taken into custody.

The Sdis du Gard will file a complaint as it now systematically does when a firefighter is verbally or physically attacked.
