On the evening of April 30, local time, a lantern parade was held in Seoul, South Korea.

It is reported that the lantern festival is a large-scale parade event held in South Korea to celebrate the Buddha's birthday. Previously, due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, it was once changed to an online event.

The reporter saw near the Jonggak in Seoul that night that the participants of the lantern parade marched about 2.9 kilometers from the Dongdaemun Gate of Heunginji, Seoul, and finally walked to Jogyesa Temple through Jongno.

Teams from temples, schools, etc. are also led by majestic lanterns, dressed in traditional costumes, holding lotus, elephants, lions, four kings and other small lanterns and flags to participate in the parade.

This year's Lantern Festival aims to light up the lamp of hope and healing in the post-epidemic era, so that people who are tired from the new crown epidemic can feel at ease and return to their daily lives.

After the lantern parade, a special performance was held on the special stage prepared at the Jonggak intersection.

It is reported that the eighth day of April in the lunar calendar is the birthday of the Korean Buddha.

On the same day, the Korean Buddhist community will also hold a Buddha's birthday celebration ceremony at Jogyesa Temple in Seoul and Buddhist temples all over the country.
