“We used to consider the Budapest Memorandum as an important security criterion for Ukraine, but, unfortunately, it did not bring real security to Ukraine,” RIA Novosti quotes Kuleba.

According to him, "Ukraine is currently exploring the possibility of obtaining security guarantees from the permanent members of the UN Security Council and other major countries, including China."

The Minister stressed that the offer to Beijing to become one of the guarantors of Ukraine's security is "a sign of respect and trust in China."

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that security guarantees for Kyiv should be based on the provision of Western countries with their military as soon as possible.

At the same time, Moscow has repeatedly emphasized the variability of Kyiv's position on security guarantees and the delay in the negotiation process on the part of Ukraine.
