Are there security policy reasons to speed up the NATO process?

- We have understood that Russia does not want Sweden and Finland to join NATO, but at the moment Russia is busy with Ukraine.

For that reason, there may be reasons to join right now.

Their chances of causing damage in our region are less now, says Malena Britz.

NATO Article 5 means that an attack on a member state is to be regarded as an attack on all.

Would Sweden need to send soldiers to Turkey, for example?

- Yes, if Turkey were to be attacked so that Article 5 was triggered, all countries would have to stand up for each other.

It is very dangerous if NATO ends up in a situation where security is regionalized, says Magnus Christiansson.

But Sweden must not intervene just because a NATO country is in an armed conflict.

- What often occurs in the debate is that Sweden would be drawn into Erdogan's (Turkish president, editor's note) "adventure" in the Middle East or in the dirty war against the Kurds - that is not true because it would not be an article issue.

The principle of "one for all - all for one" is the whole point of NATO, Malena Britz points out.

- If any country chooses not to comply with such a commitment, NATO will no longer exist.

Would Sweden be forced to have nuclear weapons in the event of membership?

- Nuclear weapons are part of NATO's military strategy.

The United States and the United Kingdom have nuclear weapons deployed in Europe.

But Sweden could not be forced to have nuclear weapons, says Magnus Christiansson.

- The Swedish government can continue to have a policy for arms control, there are several countries that have it, says Magnus Christiansson and continues:

- Until 2010, there were also countries that wanted to get rid of NATO's nuclear weapons, Norway and Germany.

Now I think that debate is turning.
