The Israeli occupation authorities decided to close the West Bank and the crossings with the Gaza Strip next Wednesday and Thursday, in memory of the Palestinian Nakba;

The Israelis celebrate what they call "Independence Day", while the Israeli Prime Minister announced that he will not allow the head of the Hamas movement in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, to win.

The Israeli army spokesman, Avichai Adraee, said that the decision was made based on an assessment of the security situation with the aim of preventing any Palestinian attacks against the backdrop of the security tension in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The Palestinian territories have witnessed tensions and clashes between Palestinians and Israelis since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, due to the daily Israeli incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian towns and villages in the West Bank.

Adraee added that the crossings will be reopened and the closure lifted next Friday, according to the assessment of the security situation, provided that only humanitarian, medical and exceptional cases are allowed to pass during the closure period.

And Israeli media reported that an Israeli was seriously wounded in the Shoham area, in central Israel, without mentioning the nature of the injury or the cause of it.

For its part, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said in a report that 16 Israelis have been killed in Israel and the West Bank by stabbing and shooting attacks since the beginning of last March.

The report indicated that 10 stabbing attacks without fatalities occurred in Tel Aviv, Beersheba, Hadera, the settlement of Ariel and Armon Hanistev.

Usually, Israel imposes a comprehensive closure on the West Bank and Gaza Strip crossings during the period of Jewish and "national" holidays or during periods of security tension.

Injuries and arrests

Meanwhile, 5 Palestinians were wounded and 3 others were arrested in raids carried out by the Israeli army in Al-Jalazun refugee camp near Ramallah in the central West Bank.

Medical sources told Anadolu Agency that 5 Palestinians were wounded by live bullets, one was wounded in the abdomen, two were wounded by shrapnel in the face and feet, and two were wounded in the lower extremities, all of whom were taken for treatment.

In this context, eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that the Israeli army carried out a raid on a number of Palestinian homes in Al-Jalazun camp, and arrested 3 civilians, including the leader of the Islamic Jihad movement Saeed Nakhleh.

Witnesses indicated that clashes erupted between residents and the Israeli army, during which live and metal bullets were used, and tear gas canisters were used.

And the occupation army announced yesterday, Saturday, that its forces had arrested the perpetrators of the Ariel settlement operation, which resulted in the killing of a security guard last Thursday evening.

Bennett challenges the Sinwar

For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said that what he described as the "current terror" wave requires the highest level of preparedness.

This came during the weekly session of his government, after the operation at the entrance to the "Ariel" settlement, which left one of the settlement's security guards dead.

At the start of his government's weekly session on Sunday, Bennett also touched on the statements of Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar, in which he called the head of the United Arab List, the political arm of the Islamic movement, to withdraw from the government coalition.

Bennett said that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar should not be allowed to win after the latter's call to bring down his government.

In turn, Israeli army spokesman Ran Kochav attacked Sinwar for the threats he made to Israel during his speech on Saturday.

In an interview with Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Kochav said that Tel Aviv takes into account the "Guardian of the Fences 2" operation, and that if war is imposed or a military operation is carried out, Israel is fully prepared for that.

Al-Sinwar had called on the United Arab List to withdraw from the ruling Israeli coalition, because the formation of a safety net for the occupation government, which takes a decision to desecrate Al-Aqsa Mosque, is not allowed, as he put it.

Al-Sinwar also warned of the consequences of the continued occupation of Al-Aqsa Mosque;

He said that the world has an opportunity to act and prevent what he called a regional religious war.

He called on all the factions to prepare because the battle will not end with the end of the month of Ramadan, according to him.
