During demonstrations on "Labor Day" on Sunday, people across Hesse took to the streets for social justice, peace and solidarity with Ukraine, which had been badly damaged by the war.

In Frankfurt, the police spoke of around 1,700 participants in a demonstration march from the main station to the Römerberg in the morning.

The German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB) called for this together with Omas gegen Rechts under the motto "Thanks and recognition for the employees of systemically relevant professions!

Respect, tolerance, solidarity and democracy for everyone!”

Around noon, the deputy DGB federal chairwoman Elke Hannack was expected to be the main speaker at a rally on the Römerberg.

There were also demonstrations and rallies in Limburg, Wiesbaden and other cities.

The DGB district chairman of Hesse-Thuringia, Michael Rudolph, wanted to speak to the participants of a May rally in Marburg at noon.

In Kassel, among others, DGB national board member Anja Piel was expected and in Limburg the state chairman of the Education and Science Union, Thilo Hartmann.

The DGB had planned a total of 33 rallies across Hesse.
