Today, Sunday, the Israeli occupation authorities decided to tighten the military siege on the West Bank and Gaza Strip on Wednesday and Thursday, as the Israelis celebrate what they call Independence Day.

And the occupation army announced in a statement that the decision was taken by the Ministry of Defense, the army leadership and the security services, to prevent any Palestinian attacks against the backdrop of the security tension.

The statement added that all crossings to and from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip will be closed.

For his part, the Israeli army spokesman, Avichai Adraee, announced the imposition of a comprehensive closure on the West Bank and the closure of the crossings with the Gaza Strip, starting at 3 pm on Tuesday.

Adraee added that the crossings will be reopened and the closure lifted, next Friday, according to an assessment of the security situation, and that during the closure period, only humanitarian, medical and exceptional cases will be allowed to pass.


Injuries and arrests

Meanwhile, 5 Palestinians were wounded and 3 others were arrested in raids carried out by the Israeli army in Al-Jalazun refugee camp near Ramallah in the central West Bank.

Medical sources told Anadolu Agency that 5 Palestinians were wounded by live bullets, one in the abdomen, two with shrapnel in the face and feet, and two injuries in the lower extremities, all of whom were taken for treatment.

In this context, eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that the Israeli army carried out a raid on a number of Palestinian homes in Al-Jalazun camp, and arrested 3 civilians, including the leader of the Islamic Jihad movement Saeed Nakhleh.

Witnesses indicated that clashes erupted between the residents and the Israeli army, during which live and metal bullets were used, as well as tear gas canisters.

And the occupation army announced yesterday that its forces had arrested the perpetrators of the Ariel settlement operation, which resulted in the killing of a security guard on Thursday evening.
