Sudan is unique in having a festive and festive day sponsored by adults and in which children shine, which is held at the end of the holy month of Ramadan called “Yom al-Ramatat”.

The celebration includes the establishment of Sudanese full tables to which parents and loved ones are invited to pray for the souls of the departed on the one hand, and with joyful marches led by children where they roam the streets and knock on doors, singing popular songs.

According to Sudanese folk narrations, the term (Al-Rahmat) is formed from the combination of two words, “mercy” and “come.” There are other names given by Sudanese to the occasion, such as “dinner of the dead” and “orphan Friday”, but mostly the occasion is on the last Thursday of Ramadan. Therefore, the first name is more appropriate for her.

Children sing as they roam from house to house, where they are offered “fattah with meat” and “dates soaked” in what they call “the heat,” specific songs such as “The Hara has not been passed over,” Six Al-Dukah has not signed, “Set Al-Dukah has not fallen” Al-Dukh is imp, lemon, six lemons are crazy, “Atat Atat, Adona three Balahat, Tintin Tintin Aduna dead meat.” Sometimes the songs reach the point of joking by waving the threat. In Cairo.

The Sudanese researcher residing in Egypt, Tahani Abu Al-Qasim, said, "The celebration is different at the present time from what it was in its childhood. The majority used to slaughter sheep on the Day of Mercy, but now it is limited to some people buying a simple amount of meat, and the phenomenon is resisting extinction and has turned into a season awaiting it. Poor Khalawi students and hospital guests are simple, but it is still a joyful day for children to cling to.

"This custom comes within a context of solidarity that the Sudanese people are famous for in the holy month of Ramadan, such as holding a collective iftar on the street in front of homes and in the squares, or hosting strangers or travelers on the roads to break their fast," said Tahani Abu al-Qasim.
