The violation took place on Friday night and, according to Air Force Chief Carl-Johan Edström, must have taken place in less than a minute.
Minister of Defense Peter Hultqvist (S) condemned the incident on Saturday night:
"It is completely unacceptable to violate Swedish airspace.
We will, of course, mark this diplomatically.
The action is unprofessional and, given the overall security situation, extremely inappropriate.
Swedish sovereignty must always be respected, "he writes to SVT.
At the beginning of March, four Russian fighter jets violated Swedish airspace, when they flew over the sea east of Gotland.

Russian ambassador called
Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S) says that Sweden will call the Russian ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who may receive a protest.
- When something like this happens, we must mark that it is unacceptable, she says in the Good Morning world.
When asked if nothing more will be done than that, Ann Linde answers:
- This is how it is done and we also point out that it is unacceptable that Sweden's airspace is violated.
SVT Nyheter has searched for Ann Linde. The Minister for Foreign Affairs will visit Agenda on Sunday evening, starting at 21.15.
