A man of German nationality in his thirties will be tried this Monday in direct appearance by the criminal court of Nîmes.
He was arrested Thursday evening on the A9 motorway, near Vergèze, a town in Gard located halfway between Montpellier and Nîmes.
The customs officers discovered, hidden in the passenger compartment, 30 kg of cannabis pollen.
To the investigators, the defendant explained that he had gone to Spain by plane.
There, he would have recovered his sister's car, loaded with drugs, which another person had conveyed from Germany in order to cover the tracks.
Several visits to Spain and Italy
He would have claimed to have engaged in this traffic for the first time, in exchange for 5,000 euros.
However, the analysis of his phone revealed that he has been to Spain and Italy several times in recent months.
