According to media reports, the Egyptian authorities shut down the Nabd news application, on Friday, after it published fabricated news about the death of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

This action came after the Nabd application transmitted a news attributed to the “eXtra news” and “CBC” channels, stating the death of President Sisi, and the Extra News channel denied responsibility for the news, saying that it was fabricated.

According to a statement issued by the two channels, a hacker took over the two channels' accounts and spread false news, including the death of President Sisi.

According to Egyptian media, the competent authorities closed the Nabd application after unknown persons managed to penetrate it and broadcast false news.

She pointed out that "the relevant authorities in Egypt dealt with the hack and will take the necessary measures regarding the incident."

It is noteworthy that Pulse is a free news application that has more than one million users, and its organizers say that it draws information from more than two thousand news sources in the Middle East and the world.
