It was just before opening on Saturday morning that the rescue service received an alarm about a fire in the grocery store.

Three fire stations had to fight the fire and the development of smoke.

An elderly lady who lived in the apartment on top of the store must have been slightly damaged by smoke, and it is currently unclear when the store can reopen.

- We want to get started as soon as possible, but we are afraid that it may take two or three months before we can open again, says Hans Birgersson.

Everyone is laid off

The consequences of the fire damage hit the employees and Rottne's residents hard, as it is the only grocery store in the community.

- We are twenty-five employees in the store and all are laid off until the store is cleaned up.

Then it's like this that this store is so much more than a grocery supplier.

It is a post office, games and a social gathering place.

So the store will be missing, says Hans Birgersson.

The rescue service remained for post-extinguishing work until late in the afternoon.

- I do not know if it has dawned on me yet.

Tonight when I sit down, maybe I can realize what it is that has affected us, says Hans Birgersson.
