Carles Puigdemont

's lawyer

and Junts deputy,

Jaume Alonso Cuevillas

, considers it "probable" that the former president of the Generalitat could come to Spain as a member of the European Parliament's commission of inquiry into the Pegasus program, used in the alleged wiretapping of 65 independentists, including himself.

This is what the lawyer Cuevillas said in an interview with

Catalunya Ràdio

, who has indicated that "it is a probable possibility" that Puigdemont may enter Spain.

"It is evident that if

President

Puigdemont enters Spanish territory as a member of a delegation from the European Parliament, he has all the protection of this condition", he has indicated, for which the Spanish State would be obliged to respect it, he has opined.

This commission of the European Parliament has been activated on the Pegasus program and next week it is expected that the so-called

Catalangate

will be addressed in a debate in plenary.

Alonso Cuevillas is one of the 65 people who were allegedly spied on through the Pegasus program, including the current president of the Generalitat,

Pere Aragonès

, as reported two weeks ago by the

Citizen Lab

platform , linked to the University of Toronto.

The lawyer has assured that "he suspected for a long time" of these wiretaps, although he has been aware of them recently.

In his opinion, the espionage of his cell phone, due to his status as a lawyer for Puigdemont and other pro-independence leaders, is a "crime of revealing secrets, punishable by article 198 of the Penal Code."

"I find it hard to believe that no magistrate has given authorization to enter inside the mobile and, from it, to all the devices that I have in the cloud and to all the defense strategies and Euroorders. I doubt, therefore, that a magistrate would have consented this interference in the case of a lawyer," he argued.

Cuevillas has riveted that this espionage, in his case and as a lawyer, "is one of the most serious red lines that can be crossed, since it affects the right of defense and generates defenselessness, it is evident".
