“Germany, like other countries in Europe, is under enormous pressure from the United States to take some action to show that they are trying to help Ukraine,” Ritter said.

He also noted that the Ukrainian army is suffering heavy losses and is "on the verge of defeat."

“And if Ukraine fails (and it is known that Germany did nothing about this), this will create certain problems of a political nature for its leadership,” Ritter concluded.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov expressed the opinion that the United States is trying by all means to drag out the Russian military special operation in Ukraine.
