Guadeloupe is facing floods and heavy rains that have killed one person.

The inhabitants of the archipelago, placed in orange vigilance this Saturday morning, deplore the damage while a 50-year-old man lost his life and another 30-year-old was washed away in the town of Gosier and always wanted.

Guadeloupe faces bad weather.

The archipelago has been placed on orange alert due to flooding and heavy rains that cause flooding.

Among the municipalities affected, Les Abymes, Le Gosier and Pointe-à-Pitre.

This Saturday, the balance sheet reported one victim.

The body of a man in his fifties was found trapped in his car, stuck by the sudden rise in water.

Residents are affected by accumulations "similar or even higher" to those observed during the passage of Hurricane Maria in 2017, said Camille Cordeau-Merlot, forecaster at Météo France.

This Saturday, at the end of the morning, it was still time to clean up the damage left after the passage of the floods.

Many homes were also still without power at the end of the morning.

"I haven't slept all night"

Mickaël is one of those motorists surprised by the rain: he spent the night in his car, whose engine was drowned while passing under a bridge near Pointe-à-Pitre.

"The car took on a lot of water," this Guadeloupean told Europe 1.

"I had to go through the car window because the door wouldn't open. I haven't slept all night. I don't know if we were badly warned, but hey."
