The National Police has found bone remains under the floor of a house in Melilla after a complaint for an alleged crime committed more than 20 years ago, remains that have been sent for analysis to find out
if it corresponds to the ex-wife of the owner of the house.
As explained by the Government Delegation in Melilla, the search for the body has taken place "as a result of a police investigation", as a result of which the Superior Police Headquarters of Melilla has carried out, with a court order, "a search in a building in the
Reina Regente neighborhood".
The objective has been to search for the mortal remains of "a person who has been missing for more than 20 years" but both the Government Delegation and the Melilla Police Headquarters have avoided giving more details because the case "is
under secret summary",
although they have admitted that "the investigation is still open".
According to sources close to the case contacted by Europa Press, the investigations began when the current wife of the owner of the house, a 61-year-old man originally from Liberia and of Spanish nationality,
denounced her husband for an alleged case of gender violence.
As a result of an alleged threat from the man, in which he
would have warned his wife not to do the same thing to his first wife,
the investigation decided to look for a possible body buried under the house.
After 48 hours of work, the agents have found skeletal remains that will now be analyzed to see if they correspond to a person and specifically to the first wife of the man now detained for alleged ill-treatment.
