“In the context of the anti-Russian hysteria that has reached unprecedented proportions in Latvia, the adoption by the Seimas of such amendments indicates the destruction of the last sprouts of democracy in this Baltic country,” RIA Novosti reports.

The department did not rule out the growth of charges fabricated against Russian-speaking residents.

“As they say, the masks have been dropped, official Riga openly supports the Kyiv regime, which is responsible for the deaths of many civilians in the Donbass,” the Russian Foreign Ministry concluded.

Earlier, the Latvian parliament adopted amendments to the law on citizenship, providing for the deprivation of citizenship for supporting a Russian special operation in Ukraine.
