Emmanuel Macron was re-elected, Sunday April 24, President of the French Republic by collecting 58.55% of the votes cast during the second round of the ballot, against 41.45% for the candidate of the National Rally, Marine Le Pen.

If part of the French electorate is not satisfied with this re-election, foreign leaders, and European in particular, have largely welcomed his victory.

But the re-elected president will have to seriously face the increasingly deep divisions of French society, the social anger that he has failed to extinguish, the major international issues and the climate challenge.

To symbolize this challenge and the work that awaits it, the Dutch cartoonist Tjeerd Royaards imagined it for Cartooning for Peace with a tube of glue in hand facing tricolor broken glass.

Cartooning for Peace is an international network of cartoonists committed to promoting, through the universality of press cartoons, freedom of expression, human rights and mutual respect between populations of different cultures or beliefs.
