The Conservative Party has suspended MP Neil Parish for viewing pornography on his mobile phone during parliamentary sessions.
At least two MPs from his own party have identified him
two days after the news broke
, amid recent
misogyny and sexual harassment scandals
in the House of Commons.
Neil Parish, 65, had been an MP for Tiverton and Honiton since David Cameron's victory in the 2010 election and had previously been an MEP for a decade.
He is also a farmer and a specialist in agrarian policy, and was at the head of the parliamentary committee on animal welfare.
Prime Minister
Boris Johnson
issued instructions on Wednesday to identify the "pornodeputy" at all costs.
The Parish himself has appeared personally before the Ethics Committee a few hours later and the parliamentary spokesman for the "Tories", Chris Heaton-Harris, has ordered his
"suspension pending investigation"
.
The Parish case has reactivated the scandal over cases of misogyny and harassment in which
56 deputies may have participated
, according to the internal report of a complaints committee created for this purpose in the British Parliament.
"A minority of men behave like animals,"
Attorney General Suella Braverman told the BBC on Thursday, calling for "raising standards" in the House of Commons.
International Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan joined the controversy and has openly asked parliamentarians: "Keep your hands in your pockets."
In 2017, Theresa May's then number two,
Damian Green
, was forced to resign after an
investigation uncovered "plenty of pornographic material"
on the computer in his parliamentary office.
In the case of Neil Parish, the issue is made even more serious by being caught inside the House of Commons itself and through his mobile phone.
The Conservative Party has not yet identified the name of another MP who leaked to 'The Mail on Sunday' the other lurid news of the week: the accusations against Labor's number two,
Angela Rayner
, of crossing and
uncrossing her legs Sharon Stone style in "Basic Instinct"
, to baffle "premier" Boris Johnson during his speeches in Westminster.
