The background to the strike is that the employers 'organization said no to the mediators' bid in the negotiations on a new collective agreement.

The other party, the Church of Sweden's employers' organization, believes that the proposed agreement is too expensive and that the congregations cannot afford it.

The occupational groups covered by the strike include church caretakers, crematorium workers and janitors.

- There are carefully selected places around the country where people are picked out on strike, says Daniel Henriksson when he meets SVT's reporter outside Sofia Church in Jönköping, which is an activity affected by the strike.

He says that in ordinary cases it is the task of the striking caretakers to prepare a lot before and after both funerals and baptisms, which they are now not allowed to do.

In the clip above, you hear Daniel Henriksson tell what he hopes the strike will lead to.
