On Friday, the Public Prosecution Office in Sudan issued a decision to form an investigation committee into the bloody incidents in West Darfur, which resulted in the killing of dozens of people.
And last Friday, tribal violence erupted in the state, killing 176 people and wounding 220 others, according to the non-governmental Central Committee of Sudan Doctors.
A statement issued by the Public Prosecution stated that the Attorney General, Khalifa Ahmed, issued a decision to form a committee to investigate and investigate the events in the Karinak and El Geneina localities in the state.
According to the statement, the committee's competencies include investigating and investigating the events that took place in Karenik locality and the city of El Geneina, which led to the death of citizens and damage to public and private property.
It also discusses the reasons that led to the outbreak of the events and the measures taken by the local and state authorities, according to the same source.
The decision granted the committee the powers of the Public Prosecution set forth in the law, submitting reports to the court upon their completion, and that the committee would carry out its functions immediately, provided that it would lift its work within two weeks.
Earlier on Friday, the UN Security Council unanimously called (15 countries) for a transparent investigation to hold those responsible for the violence in West Darfur to account.
According to the non-governmental Darfur Lawyers Association, the violence in the state resulted in the displacement of 20,000 people.
Several areas in Darfur witness from time to time bloody clashes between Arab and African tribes, as part of conflicts over land, resources, water and grazing paths.
