The Investigative Committee is investigating a mortar shelling of a border checkpoint in the Bryansk region from Ukraine.

The corresponding instruction was given by the head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin. 

“Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed his subordinates to record and investigate the fact of the shelling, as well as to give a proper legal assessment of the actions of the persons involved in the commission of this crime,” the ministry said in a statement.

The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, spoke about the shelling of the regional branch of the border department of the FSB from Ukraine.

“On April 29, a branch of the border department of the FSB of Russia in the Bryansk region in the village of Belaya Berezka, Trubchevsky district, was subjected to mortar fire from the territory of Ukraine.

There were no casualties as a result of the shelling,” Bogomaz wrote on his Telegram channel. 

In the settlement, the water and electricity networks were damaged, work to restore them has already been carried out.

Also, as a result of the shelling, a tree fell at the cemetery - operational services are working there.

“As soon as the survey is carried out, public utilities will start clearing the territory,” the head of the region added.

On April 29, the governor of the Kursk region Roman Starovoit also reported about the shelling of the territory. 

“The morning in the border region of Rylsk was restless.

At about 8:00, mortars fired at the checkpoint in the village of Krupets," he said.

The firing points were suppressed by return fire from Russian border guards and the military, the governor added.

There were no casualties as a result of the incident.

Since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, the border regions of the Russian Federation have been shelled several times by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On April 27, Roman Starovoit reported that an air defense system shot down a Ukrainian drone in the sky over the Kursk region.

The interception of another drone by the air defense system was also reported by the governor of the Voronezh region Alexander Gusev.

On April 25, the Investigative Committee reported that more than

50 mortar rounds at the Troebortnoye checkpoint in the Bryansk region, as a result of which a power line pole was damaged.

“In addition, Ukrainian nationalists attacked the territory of the Belgorod region.

The village of Golovchino, Graivoronsky urban district, was subjected to shelling - several houses and buildings were destroyed.

Also, two civilians were injured and houses were destroyed during shelling by Ukrainian security forces of the village of Zhuravlyovka, Belgorod region, ”the ministry said.

In early April, the Armed Forces of Ukraine also, with the help of helicopters, launched airstrikes on the facilities of the fuel and energy complex on the territory of Belgorod, as a result of which a fire started. 

On April 14, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case after the shelling by the Ukrainian side of the village of Klimovo in the Bryansk region.

According to the investigation, the Ukrainian military invaded the airspace of the Russian Federation on two combat helicopters equipped with heavy offensive weapons.

“Moving at low altitude, they carried out at least six air strikes on residential buildings in the village of Klimovo, Klimovsky district, Bryansk region.

As a result of direct hits and explosions of shells, at least six residential buildings along Zarechnaya Street and Lenin Street of the village were damaged, seven people were injured of varying severity, including one young child born in 2020, ”the ministry said. 

Governor Alexander Bogomaz then specified that about 100 houses were damaged, two houses burned down completely.

He also stated that the shooters at the village "knew where they were shooting, and they were shooting at the residential sector."

Later, the Ministry of Defense reported that the Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter that carried out the attack on Klimovo was shot down in the Chernihiv region by the RF S-400 anti-aircraft missile system.

The department also said that high-precision long-range sea-based Caliber missiles hit a military facility on the outskirts of Kyiv.

“As a result of the attack on the Zhulian machine-building plant “Vizar”, workshops for the production and repair of long-range and medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as anti-ship missiles, were destroyed,” the ministry said.

The department stressed that the number and scale of missile strikes on targets in Kyiv will increase "in response to the commission by the Kyiv nationalist regime of any attacks of a terrorist nature or sabotage on Russian territory."
