The Hessian police have temporarily taken their online portal

polizei.hessen.de

offline.

As it is said, "increased overload attacks" are the reason.

"It's not classic hacking," said a spokeswoman for the FAZ. Rather, the server was flooded with a large number of requests.

These are so-called DDoS attacks.

As a result, the websites of police headquarters with their information offerings are also unavailable for an indefinite period.

"This is a precautionary measure, because a secure IT infrastructure and compliance with the highest information security standards are of the utmost importance for the police," said the State Criminal Police Office.

It examines criminal aspects of the attack attempts.

The Hessian police can still be reached, the LKA assures.

Citizens can contact the police at any time by telephone or in person at the nearest police station.

In emergencies, dial 110.

Police headquarters continued to publish urgent messages via Twitter.
