His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the signing of a new agreement to send the first Arab astronaut for a 180-day long mission to the International Space Station.

In a post on his Twitter account, His Highness said: A new station for the space sector in the UAE has been signed with the signing of a new agreement to send the first Arab astronaut for a 180-day long mission to the International Space Station.

His Highness added: The UAE will be the 11th country in history to send a long-term mission to space.. We are proud of the UAE's youth.
