The missiles fired at Kyiv during UN Secretary-General António Guterres' visit are a clear message from the Russian regime to the rest of the world.

They express what Moscow thinks of talks, mediators and visits by high-ranking politicians in Ukraine.

Moscow does not want peace, but a military decision.

And its goals are not limited to southern or eastern Ukraine.

Putin is going all out: Ukraine should cease to exist as an independent state, its national identity and culture should be erased.

Russia's propagandists openly announce this in increasingly shrill tones.

Therefore, in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, there cannot be those compromises acceptable to both sides that prominent peace supporters in Germany are still daydreaming about.

Weapons must be delivered on time

The only thing that can stop Putin's aggression is guns.

Since the West has good reasons not to intervene in the fighting itself, it must deliver them to Kyiv on the scale Ukrainian forces need - and in time to stop Russian troops before they can attack in eastern and southern Ukraine achieve further land gains.

There are currently no major movements on the eastern front, but that does not mean that there is not fierce fighting.

The attackers are making no progress with their much-heralded offensive in Donbass.

But if the West doesn't help the Ukrainians, they will eventually succumb to Russia's numerical superiority.

This would also affect the rest of Europe.

Because the Ukrainians are not only defending themselves, but also democratic Europe.

And they blame the fact that in the West, and especially in Germany, the Kremlin regime's policy of aggression was not taken seriously enough for many years.
