Recently, the West Japan Railway Company and two other Japanese companies have jointly developed a humanoid robot that can lift objects weighing 40 kilograms to a height of 10 meters. The staff can wear virtual reality helmets and operate them through remote control.

The West Japan Railway Company said that the robot will be used for high-altitude operations such as wiring, repair and maintenance, which can effectively reduce the risks of electric shock and falling from high altitudes for workers. It is currently undergoing testing and is expected to be put into use in 2024.
