Several corpses of cats were discovered last Friday in a water retention basin located near Caen (Calvados), between the municipalities of Colombelles and Cuverville,

Some of the animals have been identified, according to information from the local news site.

One of them had disappeared for a few weeks from his owners domiciled in a neighboring town.

Another had not been found since November.

Many disappearances have reportedly been reported for more than a year in the area.

Police opened an investigation.

And messages of vigilance have since been shared en masse on social networks:
