This morning, an electric bus went up in smoke in Carcassonne.

It was while passing under the Quai Riquet railway bridge, near the station, that the vehicle, in which only the driver was on board, struck the arch of the railway structure and a spark was produced at the level of the air conditioning on its roof and a fire broke out.

Firefighters responded and brought the blaze under control by mid-morning.

An interruption that will last until at least 3 p.m. according to the SNCF, which must check the safety of the bridge structure to find out if it has not suffered damage following the fire.

In the meantime, replacement buses are being put in place.
