The official spokesman for the coalition forces, Brigadier Turki Al-Maliki, stated that the Joint Forces Command of the coalition will release 163 Houthi prisoners who participated in the hostilities against the Kingdom.

He pointed out that the procedures will be carried out in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross, in order to transfer them to Sana'a.

Al-Maliki considered this initiative as an extension of previous humanitarian initiatives, and in support of the efforts and endeavors to end the Yemeni crisis and establish peace, and the efforts of the United Nations to consolidate the current truce and create an atmosphere for dialogue between the Yemeni parties, and to facilitate the end of the file of prisoners, detainees and martyrs.

It is noteworthy that Yemen has been witnessing for more than 7 years a continuous war between forces loyal to the legitimate government backed by an Arab military alliance, and the Houthis, who have controlled several Yemeni governorates - including the capital, Sanaa - since September 2014.
