According to the application that was received by the police region in the middle of Tuesday morning, Rasmus Paludan wanted 2-5 people to participate and that "another 10 people can be let in".

He stated that megaphones, lighters and books would be included.

He has told SVT Uppsala that the plan is also to "probably also light the Koran".

Now the police announce that Paludan's application is denied.

- The police have a large and important task to ensure protection for the public.

We must also ensure that our mission is to ensure constitutional rights and freedoms.

The police authority's overall assessment is that it is necessary with regard to order and security to reject the application for permission to organize a general meeting in Uppsala on May 1, says Lars Fredin, chief of command in region Mitt for the special event Election 2022 in a press release.

Also in Stockholm, Paludan will have his application for a general meeting rejected on 1 May.

The decision can be appealed to the administrative court.

Denied in several cities

When the right-wing extremist politician Rasmus Paludan held election rallies during the Easter weekend in Norrköping and Linköping, among other places, with the aim of carrying out Koran burning, violent protests and riots followed.

Paludan has since been denied when he applied for permission to hold an election meeting in Borås.

A decision he appealed and which must therefore be reviewed by the administrative court.

Paludan had also applied for permission to demonstrate in Trollhättan and Örebro on Walpurgis Night - applications that were rejected by the police there on Wednesday.
