According to a survey, the majority of citizens are dissatisfied with the actions of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) regarding the Russian war against Ukraine.

In the survey conducted by the YouGov Institute for the German Press Agency, 45 percent said they were rather dissatisfied or even very dissatisfied (25 and 20 percent, respectively).

37 percent are rather or very satisfied with Scholz in the international conflict (28 and 9 percent, respectively).

18 percent could not or did not want to rate his actions.

Only among the SPD sympathizers did a completely different picture emerge: 59 percent of them were satisfied with Scholz and 34 percent dissatisfied.

In practice, however, the majority does not realize what the current chancellor once boasted about: being a strong leader.

Only 25 percent attested to his leadership skills in dealing with the Russian aggression, 51 percent said: "He acts rather poorly as a leader" (don't know or no answer: 24 percent).

The Chancellor's communication was rated even worse: 56 percent found that he did not adequately explain his policy, 22 percent saw it differently (don't know or no answer: 22 percent).

Even the voters of the traffic light coalition rate Scholz similarly in terms of leadership and communication, although their values do not differ quite as widely as the population average.

Overall, the coalition of SPD, Greens and FDP did even worse than the chancellor.

50 percent of those questioned were rather or very dissatisfied (30 or 20 percent) with their actions in connection with the Russian Ukraine war, 30 percent were rather or very satisfied (26 or four percent. Don't know or no answer: 20 percent).

In addition to the SPD voters, the majority of the Greens voters also have the opposite view on this question, while the assessments of the FDP sympathizers roughly correspond to the general average.

The data was collected from Monday to Wednesday, before the traffic light coalition and the opposition Union agreed on a joint Bundestag proposal to supply heavy weapons, and at least in part before the government announced the supply of Cheetah tanks on Tuesday.

Both events could have influenced the perception and evaluation of the chancellor and the coalition.

The data used is based on an online survey by YouGov Deutschland GmbH, in which 2040 people took part between April 25th and 27th.

The results were weighted and are representative of the population in Germany aged 18 and over.

The questions were as follows: How satisfied are you with Chancellor Olaf Scholz's actions in relation to the Ukraine war?

Overall, how satisfied are you with the actions of the traffic light coalition in relation to the Ukraine war?
