Governor Koike of Tokyo will make an overseas business trip for the first time in three years.

In May, we will visit two countries in the Middle East to discuss joint development of a new coronavirus vaccine promoted by research institutes in the city.

Governor Koike announced at a press conference on the 28th that he would visit Kuwait and Abu Dhabi in the UAE = United Arab Emirates from May 14th to 18th.



Of these, Kuwait is planning to discuss cooperation in the development of a vaccine for the new corona, which is being promoted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Medical Research Institute.



At the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, in collaboration with the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and universities in various regions, we are working on the development of a domestic vaccine that can be expected to have long-term effects with a single vaccination. We will discuss the method of joint development. "



On the other hand, in Abu Dhabi, we will exchange opinions with related parties in order to promote the first international exchange project with the Middle East as a metropolitan high school.



Governor Koike's overseas business trip is the first in three years since he visited Beijing in August 2019, before the spread of the new coronavirus infection.
