In the course of carrying out tasks within the framework of a special military operation, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered another strike with precision-guided weapons on the military infrastructure of the Ukrainian army the day before.

“The crew of the frigate of the Black Sea Fleet from the Black Sea carried out a salvo launch of four Caliber cruise missiles at designated ground targets,” the website of the military department says.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said that hangars with a large batch of foreign weapons and ammunition supplied by the United States and European countries were hit by Caliber.

The objects were located on the territory of the Zaporozhye aluminum plant.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, "Caliber" is designed to destroy "a wide range of ground, sea surface and underwater targets in conditions of intense enemy fire and electronic countermeasures."

"Invulnerable to air defense"

As the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has repeatedly emphasized, in the special operation the Russian army uses exclusively high-precision weapons and strikes them only at the military infrastructure of Ukraine, which were created in order to militarize and conduct a punitive operation against the civilian population of Donbass.

According to official data, in addition to Caliber, the Russian Armed Forces use several other types of high-precision weapons in the special operation.

From land, launches are carried out from Iskander and Bastion missile systems, and cannon artillery fires with Krasnopol ammunition with semi-active laser homing heads (GOS).

Also, high-precision air-launched missiles are used to eliminate targets on the territory of Ukraine.

It follows from the information of the Ministry of Defense that, as part of the special operation, Russian aviation conducted several launches of a hypersonic aeroballistic missile of the Kinzhal complex, carried by MiG-31 fighters.

So, in early April, this ammunition destroyed the protected command post of the grouping of Ukrainian troops in the Donbass.

In the second half of March, Kinzhal missiles hit underground storage facilities for aviation weapons and warheads for Tochka-U missile systems in the Ivano-Frankivsk region and large warehouses of fuels and lubricants (fuels and lubricants) in the Nikolaev region.

Also, for the destruction of well-protected objects on the territory of Ukraine, the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation use ammunition less known to the general public.

For example, the crews of multifunctional two-seat Su-34 aircraft successfully strike with X-29 air-to-surface missiles.

The X-29 was created in the 1980s, but its advanced modifications are currently in service with the Aerospace Forces.

In particular, Tactical Missiles Corporation JSC produces Kh-29TE missiles with a passive homing head and Kh-29L television seeker.

These ammunition have a modest range, but they are highly accurate and have a powerful warhead weighing 320 kg.

Another effective air-based weapon used during the special operation is the Kh-31PM supersonic missile.

It is able to independently find a target by scanning significant areas of the ground or surface surface.

It is believed that this ammunition is most effective for the elimination of radar stations.

At the same time, the Kh-31PM is practically invulnerable to enemy air defense systems.

High-precision air-based weapons are also launched from unmanned aerial vehicles.

Thus, heavy reconnaissance and strike UAVs "Inokhodets" ("Orion") are used for pinpoint destruction of single targets in a special operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

They mainly destroy fortifications, armored vehicles and vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As candidate of military sciences Sergei Suvorov explained in an interview with RT, during a special operation of the Armed Forces, the choice of one or another type of high-precision weapon is determined primarily by the range of the target, its parameters and the presence of air defense systems in the enemy.

“Russian aviation is often used in such a way as not to enter the air defense coverage area.

If it is required to eliminate protected objects (most often these are large command posts), then for this, from air-based missile weapons, in my opinion, the Dagger is best suited.

Its missiles are capable of destroying underground facilities, are invulnerable to air defense systems and have a powerful warhead,” Suvorov said.

For attacks on the deep rear of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as the expert says, the Russian Armed Forces prefer to use Caliber.

The capabilities of this family of missiles make it possible to destroy a wide range of very different targets.

“As far as I can tell, Caliber is the main means of defeating the Ukrainian military infrastructure located deep in the rear.

The strikes are successfully carried out at command posts, headquarters, enemy training bases, defense enterprises, heavy armored vehicles, air defense systems, fuel depots and ammunition arsenals, ”says Suvorov.

Priority rearmament

In a recent interview with RT, Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said that Russian high-precision weapons have "increased accuracy characteristics and can be used to locally destroy equipment clusters, infrastructure military facilities, command posts, weapons depots and other things."

“As you can see, our armed forces, carrying out this operation, treat the civilian population with care.

Because we are not at war with them… I just want to say that the use of high-precision weapons by our armed forces provides the desired, necessary efficiency in achieving the goals set,” Borisov said.

The interlocutor of RT also denied the allegations spread in Ukraine and in the West that the Russian army is allegedly running out of precision-guided munitions.

According to Borisov, deliveries to the troops began long before the special operation, and now the Russian industry is ready to meet the needs of the armed forces.

As you know, the issue of developing long-range precision weapons and equipping the armed forces with them is under the special control of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu spoke about the priority of transferring high-precision long-range weapons to the army and navy.

He instructed to maintain the "set pace" of deliveries of promising weapons to the troops.

Later, assessing the effectiveness of the use of high-precision weapons during a meeting of the board of the military department, Shoigu said that advanced telecommunication technologies, including equipment with artificial intelligence elements, made a significant contribution to the success of fire destruction.

The Minister of Defense noted that the use of the latest data processing and transmission equipment made it possible to reduce the time for bringing target designation to long-range high-precision weapons systems, such as Caliber and Dagger, by dozens of times.

In a RT commentary, retired colonel Viktor Baranets noted that high-precision weapons help the Russian army destroy ammunition and military equipment supplied by the West, as well as targets uncovered by intelligence in uncontrolled territories.

“Even before the start of the special operation, the West managed to pump up Ukraine with a large number of weapons.

In addition, the Kyiv regime left many caches and warehouses with Soviet ammunition and arsenals with equipment.

Thus, Russia creates a situation of hunger for ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

I think that as the second phase of the special operation develops, Ukraine will feel the problem of the shortage of ammunition much more acutely,” said Baranets.

According to Sergei Suvorov, the use of high-precision weapons by the RF Armed Forces not only creates a shortage of ammunition, but also deprives the enemy of a sufficient amount of fuel and lubricants.

“One of the keys to the success of the Russian army, of course, should be the material and technical exhaustion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

When the enemy has an acute shortage of ammunition and fuel, his combat potential and maneuverability will be significantly reduced.

This will allow our troops to move forward faster on the ground, ”summed up Suvorov.
