The star CAC 40 index advanced 113.16 points to 6,558.42 points around 9:40 a.m.

The day before, it had broken a series of three declines by rising 0.48%.

The big names on the stock market, such as TotalEnergies or Sanofi, have unveiled their accounts for the first quarter and have reaped significant profits.

"It is in the results of companies that the hopes are now to find the necessary catalysts to rebound," confirm analysts at Saxo Bank.

A first start came from the United States, with the results hailed by Meta (Facebook).

The group even took 18% in electronic exchanges between sessions.

These publications give some reasons to rejoice to investors who have been missing them for several weeks.

Between inflation at its strongest for decades in Western countries and diminished growth prospects, brokers remain cautious in their investments in the equity markets.

The war in Ukraine is also weighing on European markets, with the Russian group Gazprom which announced on Wednesday that it had suspended all gas deliveries to Bulgaria and Poland.

The euro weakened further against the dollar, at 1.0540 dollars (-0.16%), the lowest in more than five years.

Nearly $5 billion in profit for TotalEnergies

TotalEnergies, driven by the rebound in energy prices, earned net profit in the first quarter up 48% to 4.9 billion dollars, despite writedowns related to Russia.

The title took 2.24% to 46.15%.

Tech still in shape

In the wake of the good results of Meta and those recorded on the Parisian market for several days, the technology sector was on the rise.

The French IT giant Capgemini (+3.70% to 193.40 euros) recorded record revenue growth of 17.7% in the first quarter of 2021 (at constant exchange rates).

On the featured index, STMicroelectronics followed (+2.85% to 36.05 euros).

Pernord Ricard improves its margins

The title of the spirits giant rose 1.18% to 197.80 euros, after announcing a 25% increase in sales in the third quarter of its staggered fiscal year and forecast "an improvement in its operating margin".
