Two men in possession of a revolver were arrested overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday in an apartment in Annecy (Haute-Savoie).

The suspects, aged around sixty, were taken into custody, reports Le Dauphiné.

It was local residents who alerted the police after hearing suspicious detonations around 2 a.m.

Upon arriving at the designated accommodation, the police discovered the two sixties, drunk, in possession of a Remington 44 revolver and sachets of cannabis.

An over-the-counter weapon

According to the first elements, the owner of the weapon would have settled on the balcony to disarm it and clean it, which would have caused the detonations.

The revolver in question is a category D weapon, freely available in France.

The two sixties were released on Wednesday.

The owner of the revolver received a summons on prior recognition of guilt for night noise and use of narcotics.

His friend simply left with a penal order for drug use.
