It was confirmed that Lee Jung-sik, a candidate for the Minister of Employment and Labor, was hired with an inflated career history compared to the actual length of service while applying for the appointment as a visiting professor at the Korea University of Technology and Education last year.

At that time, looking at the application for appointment, Lee stated in his career details that he had worked continuously for over 30 years from August 1986 to March 2017 at the Korea Federation of Trade Unions.

However, according to the career certificate issued by the Confederation of Trade Unions, the candidate Lee served until 2004 and then left the Confederation of Trade Unions, and returned to the head of the policy headquarters of the Confederation of Trade Unions in 2011, seven years later, and worked at the Confederation of Trade Unions until 2017.

Candidate Lee worked as an assistant professor at Seoul Digital University for 4 years from June 2004, and since 2010, he has not worked at the Korea Federation of Trade Unions, such as working as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Public Administration at Gyeongsang National University.

He stated in his application that he worked for about 6 years and 8 months longer than the actual period of experience.

In the self-introduction letter that followed, this candidate also emphasized his work experience, saying, "I worked at the Korea Federation of Trade Unions for nearly 30 years and held key positions."

Candidate Jeong-sik Lee also stated that he worked as a policy aide for the Minister of Construction and Transportation for two years and five months from June 2004 to November 2006, but the actual period of service was about two years and one month, which was also four months shorter than this.

After passing this recruitment last year, it has been confirmed that this candidate has been lecturing one subject per semester, such as labor-management relations, and received an annual salary of about 30 million won.

At that time, the recruitment notice clearly stated that 'If it is confirmed that the applicant has been accepted or hired by fraudulent methods such as false application form or forgery of submitted documents, admission or appointment may be canceled'.

During the resume writing stage, the candidate's side told SBS, "I thought I would understand that my middle career would be lost as I also included other work history in the meantime."

Still, he emphasized, "I made mistakes because I relied on memory to write."

Rep. Song Ok-ju of the Democratic Party of Korea said, "It is difficult to comprehend common sense that a false description of nearly 7 years of experience is inflated to be a simple error. It looks like it,” he pointed out.
