A 31-year-old man appeared this Tuesday before the criminal court to answer for an armed robbery in a Lidl store in Quimper (Finistère) on March 21.

The defendant had threatened the employees with a tear gas canister and then the cashier with an alarm pistol loaded with blank bullets.

He had been given 5,810 euros and cell phones, reports Côté Quimper.

A drunken robber

A shot was fired accidentally, without causing any injuries.

The thief had 1.2 g of alcohol per liter of blood at the time.

He was already known to justice, in particular for robberies.

He was eventually sentenced to ten years in prison and kept in detention.

His sentence is greater than the requisitions.

The condemned cannot hold a weapon for fifteen years or stay in Brittany for five years.

He will also have to compensate the victims, between 1,500 and 3,000 euros to repair the moral damage and pay nearly 3,000 euros to Lidl.
