Thursday, April 28, the final stage of the ballot to renew Parliament, with the election of the President of the Lower House, must take place.

On Tuesday, the outgoing president of the Upper House, from the opposition, was reappointed, as well as his vice-presidents.

Once the two Chambers are installed, they will finally be able to elect a successor to outgoing President Mohamed Farmajo, at the end of an electoral process marred, until recent days, by numerous incidents.

The Somali electoral process is on its way

against all odds

.

Nothing managed to stop him.

Nor the quarrels of recent months on points of settlement, delaying the election of around twenty deputies.

Nor the incidents on Monday, when men suspected of being part of the intelligence services opened fire while MPs were being sworn in, or on Tuesday when the Presidency's services and the police expelled Parliament's employees from their offices.

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble "

condemned

 " these incidents and "

warned the chief of police and intelligence

 " against their "

involvement

 " in these "

attempts to disrupt the elections

 ".

And despite everything, the process continued.

Senate President Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, an opposition figure, won re-election by a narrow majority against two ministers who were running against him.

His two deputies are also opponents, one from the party of former head of state

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud

, and the other from the Puntland government.

Congratulations to the Speaker of the Upper House @AqalkaSare Senator Abdi Hashi Abdullahi on his re-election today & the first & second Deputy Speakers, Sen.

Ali Shabaan Ibrahim & Sen. Adullahi Ali Hersi.

May Allah make you deliver this huge national responsibility with ease.
