The world is opening up more and more after the pandemic, but in China the infection is now greater than in a long time.

- There has been talk for so long about how this corona epidemic has been handled and that China has defeated it.

But now that the whole world has gone from closed to open, it is hitting China with full force, what hit the world two years ago, says Ulrika Bergsten.

Ulrika Bergsten states that the percentage is not about as many established cases in Shanghai, but in China there is zero tolerance.

- We would not have blinked very hard for it in Sweden if you look at the percentage, but in China it has been made a political prestige issue that you should not have anyone infected.

It is also a serious situation because you do not have any herd immunity and the elderly are not fully vaccinated, she says.

- There is also a great deal of concern because you do not have as many emergency care places as you have in the rest of the world.

Since the Chinese regime is a stability junkie, they want peace and quiet and this is something that threatens and frightens, so they strike with a hard lockdown in Shanghai.

"Can't get the goods out"

Concerns are now spreading that Beijing is next in line to shut down, something that is causing people to stock up on food and supplies.

The economy is also affected by the uncertain situation and this is hitting the stock markets, among other things.

- The big problem is that you do not get the goods out into the world.

The supply chains are broken, ports are closed and roads at the bottom of China are closed.

The threat that it would hit Beijing is a signal that it is very, very serious.

Now you are beginning to understand more and more that the tactics you had did not really work on the omicron infection.
