Since the corona restrictions disappeared, more and more Swedes have regained the desire to travel abroad.

When a large part of the population wanted to get a new passport at the same time, it made the waiting times extremely long.

In Jönköping County, the waiting time right now is eight months, however, with a little luck you can find scattering times with shorter notice.

- It is of course terribly frustrating for people who want to go out and travel and it is frustrating for us too who can not meet the need that exists.

I can only apologize, says Johan Borg who is acting police area chief in Värnamo.

Increased opening hours

For a couple of weeks now, the police stations in the county have been open on weekends and on red days.

But from next week, the staff at the police station in Jönköping will work in two shifts on weekdays, which means that they can be open longer.

In the clip above, you hear Johan Borg tell how long he thinks it will take before the waiting time to get a passport is at a normal level again.
