“This year, it was decided to refrain from public events and marches on May 9,” RIA Novosti quoted the minister as saying. 

She stated that this decision was made after consultations, including with Israeli veteran organizations.

Tamano-Shata also added that this year a “delicate situation” has developed around the celebration of Victory Day.

Earlier, Israeli Ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi said that Israel would never abandon the celebration of May 9th.
