Al Jazeera English won - for the sixth year in a row - the "Channel of the Year" award at the New York Film and Television Festival 2022. The award is given to the channel that wins the largest number of gold medals.

Al Jazeera Media Network won dozens of gold, silver and bronze medals at the festival in appreciation of its news coverage, programs and documentaries.

The festival announced the names of this year's award winners, Tuesday, April 26, in an online ceremony.

Institutions from more than 50 countries competed for prizes, including productions, programs and coverages prepared by well-known television stations, including ITV, BBC, CBC, NBC, and others.

Al-Jazeera English won 15 gold medals, including medals for the channel's coverage of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban's control of power there, and the unrest in the occupied Palestinian territories in May 2021.

While the "All Hail the Lockdown" series, produced by the channel and presented by colleague Ally Ray, won two gold medals.

The other gold medals were distributed to "The Big Picture", Fault Lines, 101 East, Witness, Leasing Post, and the documentary series "Africa Direct".

The channel also won 12 silver and 18 bronze medals.

Other channels and sectors of the network won gold medals at the festival, including 3 golds for the investigations unit for the films “Football Merchants” and “3 Days I Stopped the World”, and the digital sector won two golds for the “Fly on the Wall” series and the “Fly on the Wall” program.
