On April 26, the dock of the China Polar Research Base in Pudong, Shanghai welcomed the return of the polar scientific research ship "Xuelong".

This marks the successful conclusion of China's 38th Antarctic scientific expedition, which lasted 174 days.

  China's 38th Antarctic scientific expedition was jointly carried out by "Xuelong" and "Xuelong 2".

This is the second time that China has sent two icebreakers to Antarctica in the same "exploration season" since the 36th Antarctic scientific expedition.

Among them, the "Xuelong 2" returned to Shanghai on April 20.

  On November 5, 2021, the first batch of 154 members of China's 38th Antarctic scientific expedition departed from Shanghai on the "Xuelong".

During the expedition, the "Xuelong" sailed more than 33,000 nautical miles.

  On November 23, 2021, the second batch of 101 members of China's 38th Antarctic Scientific Expedition set sail from Shanghai on the "Xuelong 2".

During the inspection process, the "Xuelong 2" sailed more than 31,000 nautical miles.

  According to reports, China's 38th Antarctic scientific expedition successfully completed the tasks of material supply and personnel rotation at the Great Wall Station and Zhongshan Station in Antarctica, carried out station-based multidisciplinary and near-shore marine operational observations, and investigated the Southern Ocean ecosystem, and actively carried out Investigated international cooperation in material supply and achieved a number of scientific research results.
