US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln said on the 27th local time that the outcome of the war in Ukraine will also affect China's position on Taiwan.

Blincoln appeared before the Senate Appropriations Committee and was asked if he thought the Ukraine crisis would affect China's decision on the Taiwan issue, and he said "yes".

"China is monitoring the situation very carefully," Blincoln said.

"President Joe Biden has made it clear that there will be harsh costs for any kind of weapon of mass destruction," he said.

"The United States is working with our allies as well as within our government," he added.

"Unless Russia stops, sanctions will continue," Blincoln said.

"The European Union is also considering an embargo on Russian oil as the next step," Blincoln said, adding that Russia is considering additional sanctions on other sectors of the economy to intensify the pressure.

Earlier, Russian state-owned Gazprom announced that it had completely stopped supplying natural gas to Poland and Bulgaria, both EU and NATO member states.
