“Of course, we saw how many non-profit organizations were registered not only in Russia, but also in neighboring countries, what steps these non-profit organizations took, often politicized, even if the subject of their activities was not directly political.

This led to the formation of destructive moods in society, resulting in protests, ”the analyst explained.

She also recalled the events in Belarus in 2020, where NGOs were organizing protests, as well as in Kazakhstan in January this year.

Fedosova noted that, despite the presence of socio-economic factors, there was also a factor of external influence in the incident.

“Such proposals, of course, are aimed at strengthening the protection of our civil society,” the specialist concluded.

Earlier, the State Duma proposed expanding the list of persons who cannot act as founders of NPOs and restricting foreign agents in the right to register new non-profit organizations.
