It is the very serious international database of longevity which is responsible for listing the oldest people in the world, and according to this register, after

the death of Tane Kanaka at the age of 119,

it is now Sister André the dean of the humanity.

From her real name, Lucile Randon, she celebrated her 118th birthday last February.

Born in 1904, her first memories go back to the First World War and it was after the second that she entered holy orders and took the name of Sister André.

"

The Good Lord does not want me

"

She then spent most of her life caring for orphans and the elderly until she was 75, when she took a well-deserved retirement.

After three decades spent in an Ehpad in the mountains of Savoie, she has lived in Toulon in the south of France since she was 105 years old.

Asked about the secret of her longevity, this fervent Catholic simply believes that "

the Good Lord does not want me

", even if she repeats that she still wishes that he would eventually call her back to him.

In the meantime, the years continue to pass, and if Sister André is still far from the record of Jeanne Calment who died at the age of 122, the new dean of humanity still hopes to dethrone her.
