An administrator of the feminist collective 50/50, which campaigns for equality, parity and diversity in the film and audiovisual industry, will be tried on September 14 in the Paris court after accusations of sexual assault.

Strong tensions within the collective

This woman, targeted by a complaint filed in March, is the subject of a summons by report.

During an extraordinary general meeting on Saturday, six administrators of the Collectif 50/50 resigned "because of this particular context which caused a very strong tension", announced the latter.

In the internal letter distributed to the 900 members of the collective, the board of directors indicates that a dinner was organized on March 11 at the home of an administrator, bringing together around twenty people.

“At the end of this dinner, a complaint for sexual assault was filed by a guest, against an administrator of the collective.

(…) At this stage, the complainant does not wish to speak publicly, and the person implicated strongly contests the facts,” adds the board of directors.

The defendant strongly denies the facts

“The collective has always fought against sexist and sexual violence and harassment.

(…) The exceptional facts that we know of must in the same way be treated with attention, commitment and discernment, with transparency, and in respect of the values that constitute the DNA of the collective”, indicates the board of directors.

The administrator in question was immediately withdrawn and suspended from all her activities within the collective.

According to a report, the administrator targeted by the charges was heard by the police and was “in a state of obvious intoxication” at the time of the facts, according to several witnesses.

In a text message the next day, she apologized to the complainant.

A collective is born from #MeToo

Created in 2018 as part of the international movement for freedom of speech #MeToo, the 50/50 Collective brings together a thousand film and audiovisual professionals.

Its first awareness-raising actions in favor of parity and diversity were carried out at the Cannes Film Festival.

He participated in particular in the parity charters adopted by several film festivals.
